At Hawkesdown House communication between the School, staff, parents and the boys is of paramount importance. Parents are welcome to discuss any matter concerning their son and are encouraged to keep closely in touch with the School about their son’s development.
Detailed notes for parents are issued to all new parents at the beginning of each academic year. In the Autumn Term, the curriculum covered during the year is outlined to parents of each Year Group.
Parents’ Evenings are held to discuss individually with parents’ their son’s progress and termly reports are given. In the event of a special achievement or effort by a boy, the Head recognises this directly and a letter may also be sent to a boy’s parents.
If a boy encounters a difficulty in his work, or there is any other concern, the class teacher, or if the problem is continuing or serious, the Head, will discuss this with parents.
The Parent Newsletter is a regular weekly newsletter from the Head to parents about School news and events.
Throughout the year parents are invited to various assemblies, concerts and matches. All parents and their families are invited to the Prize Giving and the Sports Day in the Summer Term, and to the School Carol Service.
Each September the School holds an evening party for parents to meet one another and get to know those with sons in the same year.
For details about our Complaints Policy or information relating to the number of formal complaints, please contact the School Office, where these are available.
There is a Form Representative for each class, appointed to make new parents welcome. The sense of community is fostered through a wide range of social events and charity fund raising. Form Representatives meet with the Headmistress three times a year.
